Perhaps Stripe PR boss Juliet Simpson should be known as the Wide Stripe – given that the heavily pregnant PR agency boss is now days overdue for bringing a wee Simpson into the world.
Jules has always been a skelf (pin Stripe?), so I’m sure the novelty of being slightly, er, broader in the beam is wearing off fast.
It’s been a year since I caughe up with the Stripe supremo (2007 CIPR Awards to be precise). But my better half bumped into her in Waitrose yesterday and tells me that Jools is blooming and has loved every minute of her pregnancy.
Of course, her nine-months are overdue now and no doubt she just wants to get on with motherhood. Hence why she was out for a bracing six mile walk, trying to bring on contractions before the need to be induced.
Jools and her better half – surf dude Steve – will be fantastic parents. So it’s nice to see that Juliet’s also making preparations for her “other” family – all the staff at her Leith-based consumer PR agency.
According to The Drum online today, Stripe has also become a notch wider with the appointment of Morna McLelland to the company’s board of directors. She will take on the day-to-day role of running the 12-storng team.
Presumably that means Juliet will get a well-deserved break and the perefect chance to bond with her new arrival when he or she finally makes an appearance.
Good luck on the big day Jools!
