After two months of “safe” blogging, I’m moving firmly out of my comfort zone.
The link above came about totally by accident, thanks to a new tool I am trying out called “Stumble Upon”. I use the word new advisedly, since I’m sure it’s probably been around for ages and is used by virtually everybody. However, it is most definitely new to me.
When I tried to use Stumble Upon for the first time, it was to save a page I liked on the media blog of Craig McGill,.
Instead , I was rather bafflingly, transported to a site called Worse Than Yours – and also found myself with said site as the subject of a new post in my own blog. So here I am – without really much idea how I got here.
As good luck would have it the site is hilarious. It also plays perfectly to my obsession with unfortunate names (see my earlier post on Phani Tikkala). The link to the list of newspaper wedding announcements (here), featuring couples who should never hyphenate their names, had me chortling along like the Viz character, Finbarr Saunders (and his double entendres).
Sooner or later I will work out how to bookmark that serious article by Mr McGill. In the meantime I’ll see what other delights Stumble Upon is likely to transport me to.
I have no real idea how to work this tool – perhaps the clue is in the name and I’ll never quite know where it is taking me.
Should any kind soul take pity on my, I’d certainly appreciate an idiot’s guide to using it.
