Ikea’s man in Scotland makes the most of High Living

Nothing but admiration for Peter Samson, the former Sunday Mail man, now better known as the PR face of Ikea in Scotland.

When I finally got round to thumbing through my copy of the Scotland on Sunday‘s property and interiors supplement, atHome, there was Peter smiling out at me from the Open House feature.

Under the headline High Living, readers were treated to a through-the-keyhole style tour of his “glasshouse in the sky” Glasgow flat. All very stylish and tasteful it looked too.

But what really impressed me was the masterclass in client promotion. Despite having only a handful of Ikea furnishings in his attractive pad, Peter still managed to engineer a sizable mention for the Swedish flatpack meisters.

Even more jaw dropping was Peter’s cheekily blatant plug for another client, Glenskirlie House and Castle Hotel. Marvellous stuff.

I’ve not spoken to Peter in yonks, but suffice to say he was a top journalist and a thoroughly likeable guy. Now I also know he’s got excellent taste in soft furnishings and a ruthlessly pragmatic approach to winning coverage for his clients. Good work fella!
