Tweenies: Wanted for the Murder of Christmas Spirit

Who’d have believed a group of colourful characters beloved by millions of kids could have been involved in something quite so sordid?

CBeebies favourites The Tweenies enjoyed a rapturous welcome from a young audience when they turned out to switch on the Christmas lights in Livingston, West Lothian.

On November 1.

Everybody knows the cynical festive marketing machine is cranking into life earlier every year. But switching on the Christmas Lights the day after Halloween. Come on! At least the local council might have waited until Guy Fawkes night was out of the way.

Next year the Livingston Christmas lights are being switched on by the Teletubbies on Shrove Tuesday. Get it in your diaries. (For the record, in 2008 Shrove Tuesday falls on  February 5 in 2008).
